Last year we brought the Earth Dome to the school day. This was one of our most exciting enrichment activities. A giant globe was inflated in the gym and all students participated in a show that was grade-level appropriate outside and inside the dome.
Here are some of the other PALS accomplishments:
Winter Blast (formerly the Fall Festival) - A fundraiser that is fun for the whole family with games, raffle items, pizza, & ice cream. Students can play carnival type games & win prizes in a safe and friendly atmosphere.
Educational Assemblies- We fund various enrichment programs. In the past, these have included a Mobile Ed team that taught our students about animals and our shared environment; Sky and Earth domes; The NED Show; and Hands-On Science and S.T.E.A.M. museums. There have also been assemblies featuring musicians, writers/illustrators, and even a Detroit Red Wings assembly.
Art Show- We participate by providing funds for matting and ribbons for the annual Art Show, a place for all the artists at Linden El. to show off their creative talents.
Field Day- A full day of outdoor activities and fun that we support by providing funds for bounce houses and Kona Ice slushies.
Grants- We provide grants for all classrooms, as well as supporting the music, art, library, physical education, media, and special education teachers and building staff.
Teacher Appreciation activities.
And much, much more!
This year we are focusing on technology. As technology for the classroom increases, so does the need to find a way financially to bring these advancements to our students. We were able to help purchase the final few Smart Boards this past year so now every classroom has a board. Now we would like to focus on purchasing Chromebooks for our students!
Additonally, we want to try to incorporate more after school/evening activities into our calendar that promotes community, family and real person-to-person interaction!
